23. Pretzels and Cracknels

Beat 7 eggs for 1½ hours. Add one teacup sugar, a half cup of cream, cinnamon and other spices, and mix into a dough. Roll into a rope and form into pretzels. Drop the pretzels into boiling water and leave until they rise to the surface. Stir with a flat perforated spoon and place in an oven on a baking sheet. The baking sheet should be sprinkled with bran to ensure that the pretzels dry well.
